MAL WALDRON with ERIC DOLPHY — The Quest LP ORIGINAL JAZZ CLASSICS SERIES
Recorded at Rudy Van Gelder Studios in New Jersey in June 1961, pianist Mal Waldron's The Quest was released by the New Jazz label in July 1962. It features Eric Dolphy (alto sax, clarinet), Booker Ervin (tenor sax), Ron Carter (cello), Joe Benjamin (double bass), and Charlie Persip (drums). Waldron composed all seven cuts that fall somewhere between hard-bop and avant-garde, including the jazz standard 'Fire Waltz'.
